AUSTIN UPDATE:
We have held two classes as of this date. One of my senior students has been assisting me along with Santos and Daniel - a student of Santos' summer class. It looks like we are winding up with 7 students. The first two classes were at ACC riverside campus, the next 3 will be at Voices of Austin and the last two along with the graduation ceremony will be determined.
The kids seem to have really enjoyed the two classes. Most of them practiced and were complaining of sore fingers. One girl who had very long finger nails the first class showed her dedication by clipping her nails!
Some exciting stuff to help give the program a strong initial boost:
Thanks to Jason Seale (current guitar student, newest member of GnG Austin's advisory board) we are in contact with Channel 8 news for coverage on the program. We are hopeful that this will happen in the next couple of weeks.
At the end of the first class Santos introduced me to Senator Barrientos. He served as Texas Senator from 1985 - 2007. The Senator liked what he saw and told me he would be in touch within the next several weeks to see how he might help the program grow.
