LA Music Academy Grads and Alumni Honor Guitars Not Guns Charity
PASADENA, CA, – The LA Music Academy, called by Jazziz magazine one of “California’s top music schools,” will honor Guitars-Not-Guns at the Levitt Pavilion in Pasadena’s Memorial Park. The celebration will include performances by Academy alumni and students.
“This is our second year working with Ray and Louise Nelson and their fantastic organization. I’m honored to be a part of what they do, and the school loves sponsoring events such as this one,” said Tom Aylesbury, President of the LA Music Academy, and President of the charity’s Los Angeles chapter.
The concert at Pasadena’s atmospheric outdoor Levitt amphitheatre, will feature live jazz, R&B, and pop/rock featuring alumni and graduates of the school.
The LA Music Academy, a NASM-accredited institution of higher learning, is the most direct and effective program for educating musicians in today’s contemporary music styles. Founded in 1996 by some of LA’s most prominent musicians and educators, the Academy offers intense training in drums, guitar, bass, and vocals in small group settings. Students play virtually every day with professional accompanists.
Founded in 2000, Guitars Not Guns provides guitars and lessons to foster children and other youth at risk, regardless of ability to pay. The charity provides mentoring of children by inviting professional musicians, teachers, entertainers, producers and other music related professionals speak to the children to make them aware of the opportunities a life in music can provide.
